Vehicle purchasing

Euro NCAP provides consumers with an independent assessment of the safety level of the most popular cars sold in Europe. Its website http://www.euroncap.com/en is packed with information and has a search function for car makes and models. Each vehicle has a rating from 1 star to 5 stars. Each vehicle also has a % safety score in 4 different categories:-

• Adult protection (for the driver and passenger)
• Child protection
• Pedestrian protection
• Safety Assist technologies.

Once a vehicle has been selected the finding can be downloaded in pdf format. The pdf lists the safety equipment fitted in each vehicle.

The website also gives details (called rewards) on new and advanced safety technologies such as blind spot monitoring and lane support systems.
